Absa Premiership match report Chippa United v Baroka 15 September 2018
Posted: 15 September 2018
Chippa United secured their first win under Eric Tinkler with a 1-0 victory over Baroka FC in an Absa Premiership battle.
Chippa were hoping their first win would come under Eric Tinkler, after starting with a very strong but offensive line-up.
Baroka were brought down to earth the other day at the hands of neighbours Polokwane City in the provincial derby.
Both sides strutted their stuff, keeping possession control the pace and tempo of the game. The first chance fell to Chippa, but Mark Mayambela shot wide of target.
With halftime closing in, the amount of goal-scoring chances appeared minimal as the half ended goalless.
In the second half, the tempo of the game showed little signs of improving with both sides going at it very cagely.
Despite a few changes on either side the pace of the game slightly picked up, but the lack of clear chances was still there for all to see.
It was left to veteran Andile Mbenyane to secure the winner four minutes from time for the Chilli Boys after a nice and easy finish.
