Platinum Stars and SuperSport United had to settle for a share of the spoils after Tuesday's Absa Premiership encounter at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium finished goalless.
Dikwena dropped the long-serving Robert Ngambi but still went with an offensive 3-4-3 formation in a bid to end their eight-game winless run.
Fresh from thumping Bloemfontein Celtic, United rolled out the big guns with Mogakolodi Ngele, Aubrey Modiba and Evans Rusike forming their attack.
They got the first effort on goal when Clayton Daniels brought Dino Visser into a calm save after seven minutes.
Stars continued their threatening game and almost went in front on a few occasions but were let down by poor displays up front from Letsie Koapeng, Ayanda Gcaba and Riyaad Norodien, among others.
After a dreary opening half, Koapeng went for an ambitious right-footed curler from outside the box but it was poorly executed and Reyaad Pieterse made a routine save.
The former Kaizer Chiefs man pulled off the best save of the half after outstretching his arms to finger-tip Koapeng’s shot away from goal after 29 minutes.
The home side continued their pressure in the second half, with Charles Baloyi going inches away from breaking the deadlock.
At the other end, Ngele looked to put one over his former employers after forcing Visser to pull off a stunning save in the 56th minute.
Shortly after, the Botswana international made way for youngster Teboho Mokoena who scored a stunner in their last league encounter.
As chances became few towards the closing stages, both sides settled for an insipid draw that does little to improve their current standings.
