Cape Town City will meet SuperSport United in the MTN8 final after defeating Bidvest Wits 2-1 in the second leg of their semi-final tie.
Wits, who lost the first duel 1-0 in Cape Town, enjoyed a dominant start from the kick-off and they looked particularly threatening down the flanks.
The Clever Boys eventually broke the deadlock in the 13th minute thanks to an own goal from Robyn Johannes, after Shu-Aib Walters deflected the ball onto his teammate.
City eventually levelled matters with their first real chance after 27 minutes when Ayanda Patosi's set-piece was headed into the net by Wits' Amr Gamal for an own goal.
Wits should have restored their lead in the 33rd minute but Granwald Scott headed wide of the upright at the far post.
Gavin Hunt's charges continued to dominate in the final 10 minutes of the first half, although Vicent Pule struck the upright before they had an effort cleared off the line.
Hunt made a double substitution at the start of the second-half, bringing on Daine Klate in place of Pule and also Eleazar Rodgers in place of Gamal.
Benni McCarthy also made a change of his own in the 53rd minute, introducing Lyle Lakay at the expense of Sibusiso Masina.
On the hour-mark there was a casualty as Roland Putsche was stretchered off the park following an aerial challenge with Thulani Hlatshwayo. Mpho Matsi was brought on in his place.
Lehlohonolo Majoro made it 2-1 in the 71st minute after he turned brilliantly inside the box and placed his left-footed shot into the bottom left corner.
The Clever Boys needed three goals without reply in the closing 20 minutes and looked dejected as the goal effectively ended the tie as a contest.
Teko Modise made way for defender Tshepo Gumede in the 80th minute as McCarthy was looking to close shop.
In the final five minutes, the match opened up for City as they had the freedom to attack, coming close to adding the final nail into the coffin, with the home side out of breath.
