Lerato Chabangu should have done better in the 80th minute when he shot wide from close range after collecting a cross by substitute Lungisani Ndlela.
Chabangu threatened five minutes later when he cut inside before unleashing a powerful, which had Etafia well beaten, unfortunately for the Sundowns striker, his effort came back off the upright.
Swallows were denied a penalty in the 90th minute when Oscar Ntwagae fouled Cecil Oerson inside the area, but referee Daniel Bennett waved for play to continued, much to the disgust of the Swallows bench.
