Polokwane City were held to a 1-1 draw by ten-man Chippa United in their last Absa Premiership match on Saturday afternoon.

Rodney Ramagalela almost opened the scoring for Rise and Shine with a strike on the edge of the box that went narrowly wide of the upright.

Linda Mntambo almost sent the visitors ahead in the 21st minute with a chance on a counter-attack but he fired wide.

In the 33rd minute, Thapelo Tshilo should have got a reply for Cit with a chance at the back post but his header sailed over the bar.

Mntambo got the breakthrough for United seven minutes before the break with a wonderful half-volley inside the box following a through ball, 0-1.

However, Vladislav Heric’s charges could not take the lead into the break as Thando Booi levelled matters for Rise and Shine three minutes before halftime.

Jabulani Maluleke had a chance to send City ahead 10 minutes into the second stanza with a free-kick on the edge of the box but he guided his effort over the bar.

The Chilli Boys were reduced to 10 men two minutes after the hour as Abel Mabaso got his second booking and was sent off.

United started sitting back in the last ten minutes, handing the initiative to attack to Rise and Shine.
