SuperSport United secured their Absa Premiership status for another season after beating Baroka 1-0 on the final day on Saturday afternoon.
Matsatsantsa looked to take the game to the visitors from the onset, with Mogakolodi Ngele slicing an effort wide of the mark after just three minutes.
The hosts were awarded a spot-kick after 25 minutes, with Aubrey Modiba stepping up and converting the penalty to put the home side in the lead.
Kaitano Tembo's men continued to dominate but they were let down by their finishing, with Evans Rusike squandering a couple good chances before the break.
Ten minutes into the second half, SuperSport nearly doubled their advantage but Reneilwe Letsholonyane's long-range strike was palmed away by the Baroka shot-stopper.
Teboho Mokoena nearly doubled SuperSport's lead in the 73rd minute, but his curling strike sailed wide of the upright.
The chances kept falling for the home side, although Rusike in particular failed to take advantage, which set up a nervy finish.
In the end, Tembo's men held on for three points, although Ajax Cape Town's loss to Kaizer Chiefs mean both SuperSport and Baroka were safe.
