Rodney Ramagalela's second-half strike guided Polokwane City to a 1-0 win over SuperSport United on Wednesday evening.
The visitors did all the attacking in the early stages, Thuso Phala and Jamie Webber carving out chances although they failed to convert.
Clear-cut chances were hard to come by Kaitano Tembo's charges in the opening stanza and they were restricted to efforts from distance, none of which troubled George Chigova.
However, Rise and Shine took the lead just before the halftime break, with Ramagalela firing past Ronwen Williams.
The second half got off to a bad start for the visitors when Morgan Gould was sent off five minutes after the restart.
SuperSport managed to carve out a couple more chances as the half went on but Rise and Shine remained solid at the back.
Kingston Nkhatha was introduced on 66 minutes, taking the place of Aubrey Modiba for the visitors.
Chigova came to Polokwane's rescue in the 84th minute, as the shot-stopper produced a good save to deny Evans Rusike.
Teboho Mokoena had a chance to secure a point for SuperSport in the third minute of stoppage time, but the young midfielder sent his header wide of the mark as Polokwane held on for three points.
