Golden Arrows returned to winning ways with a penalty from Limbikani Mzava guiding them to a 1-0 win over Ajax Cape Town.
Abafana Bes'thende made a good start with Lerato Lamola forcing Brandon Petersen to a save in the fourth minute. Ajax came into their own and pushed on the near side which found Toriq Losper, who failed to get on the end of the delivery.
Then Danny Venter managed to whip in a cross which was met by Lamola with a looping header at Petersen, who pulled off quick reflexes.
Venter led them to the opener after cutting in at the near side to play in Lamola, who was impeded in the box to earn a penalty.
Limbikani Mzava stepped up to tuck away the opener after 27 minutes. They immediately looked for a second but Lamola was outjumped by the organised defenders.
Ajax went close to drawing level from a free-kick which was met by Losper, who headed narrowly wide after 35 minutes.
The Urban Warriors continued their search for the equaliser in the second half, and Losper came close once more but failed to direct his effort to goal.
At the other end, Arrows were looking to increase their tally after firing in a shot from range that deflected wide of goal.
Muhsin Ertugral made a double substitution, bringing in Siboniso Gaxa and Fagrie Lakay to stage their come back.
In the end, though, Ajax struggled to get back and allowed Abafana Bes'thende to walk away with the maximum points for only their second win of the year.
