Absa Premiership match report Polokwane City v Bidvest Wits 09 December 2017

Posted: 9 December 2017 Time: 12:26

Eleazar Rodgers scored in second-half stoppage time to salvage a 1-1 draw for Bidvest Wits against Polokwane City on Saturday afternoon.

The two sides sized each other up in the opening 10 minutes without much goal scoring opportunities.

Gabadinho Mhango and Amr Gamal were combining well after 20 minutes but the City defence was firm, with Thapelo Tshilo particularly crucial.

After half-an-hour, the two sides were settled and pushing for the opening goal.

Gamal almost broke the deadlock in the 37th minute after Sifiso Hlanti did exceptional job on the left wing to whip in cross but the Egyptian striker could not hit the target.

It was end-to-end attacks thereafter, as Rodney Ramagalela nearly found the breakthrough three minutes before the break on a counter-attack but his effort went wide from inside the box.

Ramagalela finally found the back of the net five minutes after the break with a deflected shot on the edge of the box, 1-0.

City were carving out chances on transitions with Rendani Ndou coming close to extending the lead on two separate occasions, but Darren Keet saved Gavin Hunt's charges with a couple crucial stops.

The visitors pressurised Rise and Shine with 10 minutes left on the clock but Bernard Molekwa's troops were showing no signs of cracking under pressure.

However, substitute Eleazar Rodgers found the equalising goal with a close range header to claim a point for the defending league champions.
