Absa Premiership match report Chippa United v Kaizer Chiefs 06 December 2017

Posted: 6 December 2017 Time: 16:52

Kaizer Chiefs stretched their winless run in the Absa Premiership to five matches after they lost 1-0 to Chippa United.

Chippa got off to a perfect start when Mark Mayambela skipped past Teenage Hadebe before picking out Abel Mabaso, who tapped home from six yards out.

Chiefs started to see more of the ball after going behind but they were constantly let down by their decision making in the final third.

The Chilli Boys looked threatening on the break and they went close to doubling their lead on 25 minutes but Itumeleng Khune produced a good save to keep out Moeketsi Sekola's header.

Six minutes later, Chiefs went agonisingly close to levelling matters but Hendrick Ekstein hit the upright from six yards out.

Steve Komphela's charges continued to dominate possession in the final 10 minutes of the half but they were unable to find an equaliser before the break.

Chiefs shaded the possession statistics in the opening 10 minutes of the second half, but chances were hard to come by for the visitors.

Komphela responded by introducing Gustavo Paez for Ekstein in the 55th minute as they looked to restore parity.

In the 71st minute, James Okwuosa came to Chippa's rescue with an impressive block from three yards out to deny Chiefs an equaliser.

Chiefs were then dealt a blow a few minutes later when Bernard Parker was taken off. He was replaced by Dumisani Zuma.

Komphela's charges pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages and they went close in the 86th minute when Paez's header was superbly turned away by Daniel Akpeyi.

However, the Chilli Boys managed to see off a late surge from Chiefs to claim a valuable victory.
