Absa Premiership match report Polokwane City v Platinum Stars 06 December 2017
Posted: 6 December 2017 Time: 16:53
A second-half strike from Bongi Ntuli was enough to earn Platinum Stars a valuable 1-0 away win against fellow strugglers Polokwane City.
Sitting two places and two points above their visitors, Polokwane City in 13th place with 11 points were looking to be more inventive and creative as opposed to their usual conservative approach to matches.
This did not pan out as planned; however, as a cagey opening few minutes set the tone for game. Both goalkeepers were mere spectators throughout the first stanza which saw very little goalmouth action.
A very close encounter ended goalless by half-time, with neither team looking to give too much away and the bulk of play taking place in the centre of the park.
Stars, who looked pretty well organised throughout the first half, struck what proved to be the decisive blow right after the halftime interval.
The visitors’ smelled blood as early as the second minute after the second half kicked off, as their talisman Ntuli found the back of the net to give his side the lead.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns hitman, had little to no service during the first half but finished clinically to give Dikwena the 1-0 lead.
In the last 10 minutes Rise and Shine took the game to Stars who looked fairly comfortable and held on for a well-deserved away victory.
