Absa Premiership match report Polokwane City v Maritzburg United 22 November 2017

Posted: 22 November 2017 Time: 16:58

Maritzburg United and Polokwane City played to a 0-0 draw at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Rise and Shine enjoyed most of the possession in the opening stages of the first half, while Maritzburg were quite happy to sit back.

However, for all of Polokwane's possession in the opening 20 minutes, they failed to provide any goal-mouth action.

Maritzburg carved out the game's first chance after 34 minutes as Evans Rusike's powerful strike sailed just wide of George Chigova's upright.

That proved to be the only clear-cut opening in the first half, although the Team of Choice did threaten more in the closing stages.

After a quiet start to the second half, Polokwane nearly broke the deadlock after 60 minutes but Richard Ofori produced a good save to keep the hosts at bay.

Polokwane continued to push for an opening goal, but they were left frustrated by the heroics of Ofori in the Maritzburg goal.

Unfortunately, the remainder of the second half failed to provide any goal-scoring opportunities and the two sides settled for a share of the spoils.
