Posted: 1 November 2017 Time: 17:42
Taariq Fielies struck late in the second half to earn Cape Town City a 1-0 win over Free State Stars at the Athlone Stadium.
It was a cagey affair in the opening exchanges of the first half, as neither side could carve out a clear-cut opening.
There was a good tempo to the encounter after the 20-minute mark in the opening stanza, although chances were few and far between for both clubs.
The Citizens, were however, dealt a blow when Victor Obinna picked up an injury. The Nigerian was replaced by Judas Moseamedi in the 35th minute.
The score remained goalless as the sides entered the halftime break.
It was proving to be a match with little goal-mouth action, with neither team showing much initiative.
However, Fielies finally managed to score for City in the 89th minute to snipe a vital victory.
