Gabriel Jesus netted a brace as Manchester City recorded a 5-0 win over ten-man Liverpool in a Premier League encounter on Saturday afternoon.
The game started at a good tempo with both sides signalling their intent to get goals early on.
However, despite the free-flowing football, clear-cut chances were hard to come by for both clubs in the opening 20 minutes.
City eventually broke the deadlock in the 24th minute as Kevin De Bruyne's through-ball found Sergio Aguero, who rounded Simon Mignolet to slot into an empty net.
Liverpool pushed for an equaliser but were dealt a blow in the 37th minute when Sadio Mane was shown a straight red card for a dangerous challenge on Ederson.
As a result of the challenge, Ederson could not continue and he was stretchered off and replaced by Claudio Bravo.
City managed to double their lead in the fifth minute of first-half stoppage time when an unmarked Jesus headed home De Bruyne's cross.
Eight minutes into the second half, City bagged a third goal as Aguero unselfishly teed up Jesus for the simple finish.
Jurgen Klopp responded by introducing former City player James Milner for Georginio Wijnaldum in the 58th minute.
Pep Guardiola, meanwhile, introduced the likes of Leroy Sane and Eliaquim Mangala.
City's fourth goal arrived after 76 minutes when Benjamin Mendy found substitute Leroy Sane, who fired home at Mignolet's near post.
The Citizens nearly managed to grab a fifth goal after 86 minutes but Mignolet produced a top save to deny Aguero from six yards out.
City were not to be denied in stoppage time as Sane was afforded time and space, and unleashed a superb curling effort from 25-yards out to claim City's fifth goal.
