Huddersfield made it two wins from two in the Premier League this season after earning a 1-0 win over Newcastle at John Smith's Stadium on Sunday.
Newcastle looked lively in the opening exchanges and came close to a 17th-minute opener as Matt Ritchie looked to side-foot a swerving effort into the far corner, only to be denied by a brilliant one-handed save from Jonas Lossl.
However, that would proved the closest either side came in the opening 45 minutes as the teams headed down the tunnel at half-time still level pegging.
That would change after the break, though, as the hosts opened the scoring five minutes after the restart, Aaron Mooy exchanging passes in the area before curling an unstoppable shot into the top corner of the net.
Newcastle probably should have drawn themselves level with 68 minutes gone as the ball fell to Ayoze Perez just six yards out but he was unable to keep his shot down after swivelling and firing over the crossbar.
However, there was to be no way back for the Magpies as Huddersfield held out for the win to become the first-ever newly promoted team to win their opening two Premier League games of the campaign.
