Kaizer Chiefs ended the season in a positive vein, beating Platinum Stars 2-0 at the Olen Park Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Early chances on goal were shared as Henrico Botes fired wide of goal in the eighth minute for the home side, while five minutes later Stars goal keeper Tapiwa Kapini was on hand to save Kaizer Motaung Junior's shot from the edge of the area.

A succession of chances then followed for the Soweto side as David Mathebula had a long range shot saved before Arthur Zwane sent a close range effort wide.

Stars' next chance came in the 17th minute, but former Sundowns midfielder Godfrey Sapula was unable to find the target with a shot from inside the box.

The first half ended with Chiefs in the ascendancy, but despite the efforts of Motaung Jr, Zwane and Gerald Sibeko, the score remained 0-0 at the break.

The complexion of the game was finally changed in the 62nd minute when Siphiwe Tshabalala fired Amakhosi ahead after he glided through the home defence before finishing.

Mathebula then got on the score-sheet with five minutes to go to ensure all three points for the Soweto giants.

The result ensures a third place finish for Amakhosi.

It is amazing that after all the rubbish soccer we played we have managed to be third on the log.

The end of this season has helped me in taking the misery away...the LIBIDO came back well and truly on Saturday night!
