Platinum Stars advanced to the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup after a dramatic 3-2 aggregate win over Vipers SC of Uganda.
Having lost the first leg away from home 1-0 in Kampala, Dikwena won 3-1 at the death at Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Saturday night as goalkeeper Mbongeni Mzimela scored two spot-kicks.
Cavin Johnson’s side were handed the perfect start after just two minutes when Benson Shilongo was fouled in the penalty area and the designated spot-kick taker converted.
Striker Ndumiso Mabena scored a cracking goal from a direct free-kick in the 33rd minute to give his side the advantage heading into the half-time break.
Stars looked to have conceded a killer away-goal in the 55th minute as the aggregate stood at 2-2.
But there was drama right at the death as Dikwena were awarded another penalty and Mzimela held his nerve to make it 3-1 on the night, 3-2 on aggregate, to send his side through.
Midfielder Robert Ng'ambi will be suspended for the next round after being sent off deep into stoppage time for picking up two cautions.
Platinum Stars: Mzimela, Mabule, Sithole, Mlilo, Zulu, Mere, Ng'ambi, Mabena, Tshabalala (Mathe 60'), Shilongo (Links 74'), Ntuli.
