SuperSport United edged Royal Eagles 2-1 in a well-contested Nedbank Cup last 32 clash at Harry Gwala Stadium on Wednesday.
After a dominant opening period Matsatsantsa were ahead after just 11 minutes when Jeremy Brockie played a neat ball for Thabo Mnyamane to run onto. The striker cut back onto his stronger left foot and finished crisply between the goalkeeper's legs.
However, Eagles started to put more passes together after going behind and got a deserved equaliser just before the half-hour mark when Mzwandile Dlamini finished off a lovely team move with a left-footed shot into the bottom-right corner.
But Matsatsantsa's quality came though in the second half as they started to control the game once again, forcing Eagles goalkeeper Joslain Mayebi to make two good saves to keep out Mnyamane and Michael Boxall in the space of two minutes midway through the half.
SuperSport's pressure eventually paid off when Onismor Bhasera placed an inch-perfect cross onto the head of Brockie, unmarked in the area, and the striker had an easy finish to put his side 2-1 up.
