Nedbank Cup last-32 match report Kwa-Dukuza United Ajax Cape Town

Posted: 11 March 2017 Time: 16:07

KwaDukuza United pulled off an upset by knocking Ajax Cape Town out of the Nedbank Cup with a 4-3 win on penalties at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Ajax veteran Nathan Paulse, Erwin Isaacs and Abel Mabaso slotted their penalties, but Erick Chipeta and Prince Nxumalo, who scored in regulation time, fluffed their attempts for the topflight visitors.

The last-32 tie was decided from the spot after 120 minutes of football produced a 2-2 stalemate in Clermont.

Ajax twice took the lead inside 70 minutes through Neo Mekua and Nxumalo but the ABC Motsepe League outfit - formerly known as Natal United - equalised to ensure a tense finale, which ended in their favour.

In earlier action, Bloemfontein Celtic saw off minnows Buya Msuthu, Baroka beat FC Cape Town, while Jomo Cosmos thumped United Rovers.

Ajax Cape Town: Petersen, Isaacs, Lartey, Chipeta, Sasman, Graham, Makua, Kabwe (Mabaso 78'), Nxumalo, Funga (Mzwakali 108'), Pholongo (Paulse 73').
