Still hope for Thanda

Thanda Royal Zulu kept alive their hopes of retaining their Absa Premiership status with a 2-1 win over Platinum Stars at the SJ Smith Stadium on Wednesday evening.
A late goal from Clifford Mulenga proved to be the crucial moment in the game; this after Godfrey Sapula had given the Tycoons the lead late in the first half, only for Sibusiso Hadebe to draw the hosts level soon after the break.
Amabhubesi are still in the danger zone, set to finish second from bottom and be forced to fight for their survival in the relegation/promotion play-offs, but they still have a chance of overtaking Bloemfontein Celtic or even Maritzburg United, who are one and two points ahead respectively.
Stars remain in 12th position on 35 points, the same as Maritzburg, but their vastly superior goal-difference means they will not be dragged down into relegation trouble.
The Tycoons took the lead on 42 minutes; Henrico Botes crossing for Sapula to fire the ball beyond Aubrey Mathibe in the Thanda goal.
But the KwaZulu-Natal team hit back in the 53rd minute; Hadebe converting a Felix Obada cross to level the scores and give his side hope of collecting all three points.
And that is exactly what they did, with Obada having another assist as Mulenga scored the decisive goal two minutes from time.
