Santos stun brittle Chiefs

Santos shocked virtually every spectator at Tshwane’s Loftus Versfeld when they beat Kaizer Chiefs 3-0 in an Absa Premiership clash on Wednesday evening.
Before the match, the Amakhosi still had an eye on second position on the Absa Premiership, as they were only four points behind Orlando Pirates with two games still to go.
However, Chiefs’ aspirations quickly evaporated after Santos had already scored two goals by the ninth minute. The goalscorers were Romano Scott (cross from the left by Graham King) and Ryan Chapman (cross from the right by Scott).
It wasn’t even that Santos played greatly, but the Amakhosi were completely flat. The same happened in their game on Saturday when they lost 2-1 against The Buccaneers.
Worse followed when the away team scored their third goal in the 33rd minute. It was again Scott who finished nicely.
Chiefs did slightly better in the second half, getting a bit closer to testing Santos goalkeeper Lee Langeveldt, who made a great save early in the second half to keep Siphiwe Tshabalala’s free-kick out of the goal.
Langeveldt blocked another attempt from Tshabalala in the 70th minute, when the Santos keeper came running out of his goal to stop the Chiefs winger’s attempt to go past him.
