Kaizer Chiefs made light work of opponents Benoni Premier United in their Castle Premiership opener on Wednesday night when they beat the Rabbits 2-0 at the Germiston Stadium.
Mandla Masango and Mabhuti Khanyeza netted for the Glamour Boys.
Debutant Masango put Chiefs ahead in the 10th minute when he headed home from a cross by Onismor Bhasera.
The Amakhosi dominated the rest of the match from this point, the sides heading into the break with the score still 1-0.
Masango almost doubled Chiefs’ lead in the 55th minute when he latched onto a loose ball inside the Benoni area, but his shot was superbly saved keeper Lance Niewenhuis.
The visitors made it 2-0 in the final minute of the game when they were awarded a penalty after Thuso Phala was fouled inside the area by Japie Motale, and Khanyeza easily slotted home from the spot.
