PSL Absa Premiership match report Maritzburg United vs Bloemfontein Celtic

Posted: 27 May 2017 Time: 13:23

Maritzburg United qualified for the MTN8 for only the second time in their history after ending the season with a 1-1 draw against Bloemfontein Celtic at Harry Gwala Stadium.

Musa Nyatama broke the deadlock shortly before half-time for Phunya Sele Sele, who entered the final round of fixtures at risk of relegation.

However, substitute Mohau Mokate equalised in the 50th minute for a Maritzburg outfit that has shone under caretaker coach Fadlu Davids.

Maritzburg, who also finished inside the top eight in 2014/15, end the season in seventh spot on the standings with 38 points from 30 matches, having narrowly survived relegation last term.

Celtic finished a point above the drop zone in 12th place on the table, as Highlands Park were demoted and Baroka were forced into the play-offs.
