Absa Premiership match report Free State Stars vs Chippa United

Posted: 27 May 2017 Time: 14:12

Free State Stars and Chippa United both managed to escape the relegation zone on the final day of the Absa Premiership season, despite a goalless draw at Goble Park on Saturday.

The match proved a cagey affair in the first-half, with the first chance at goal coming after 17 minutes as Nhlanhla Vilakazi fired his free-kick at goal, although Daniel Akpeyi was equal to it and safely held on.

The goalkeeper was then again called on less than 60 seconds later to keep out Thokozani Sekotlong’s shot, before the forward again forged another chance just before the half-hour mark, although this time he was unable to find target after firing wide.

Nhlanhla Vilakazi worked the first real chance of the second-half but failed to find the target with his shot, before Stars came close with around 20 minutes remaining but Paulus Masehe could only head over from a corner.
