Absa Premiership match report Highlands Park vs Bidvest Wits

Bidvest Wits closed the gap at the top of the Absa Premiership table to two points as they compounded Highlands Park’s woes with a 2-0 win at Makhulong Stadium on Friday.
The hosts managed the first shot at goal after 11 minutes but Mothobi Mvala could only fire wide of the mark, although it would be Wits who took the lead some nine minutes later, Mogakolodi Ngele finding Granwald Scott, who fired home past Tapuwa Kapini.
The Students didn’t look to rest on their laurels and came close to a second just moments later as S'fiso Hlanti’s pin-point delivery picked out Ngele, although he couldn’t turn provider after directing his header wide of the mark.
Wits would get their second before half-time, though, with Vincent Pule rounding off an excellent team passing move to smartly slot the ball home with 38 minutes gone on the clock.
Eleazar Rodgers went in search of a third goal shortly after the restart but headed his chance over the crossbar, although that would prove one of few moments in front of goal in the second period.
