Baroka FC Kaizer Chiefs PSL Absa Premiership report

Posted: 18 March 2017 Time: 19:50

Baroka FC came back twice to draw 2-2 with Kaizer Chiefs in an Absa Premiership clash at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.

Amakhosi were in the lead as early as the sixth minute when Erick Mathoho was inside the six-yard box to tap in Bernard Parker's low-drilled cross.

However, just three minutes later Bakgaga were level as Victor Letsoalo brilliantly volleyed in a pinpoint cross from the right, in off the underside of the crossbar. The ball bounced down and out again but referee Victor Gomes and his assistant made a great call to spot that the ball had crossed the line.

The tempo of the game never slowed after the early goals in a well-contested match in which both sides attacked from the onset.

It looked to be heading into half-time at 1-1 until Dineo Shaku put in a desperate tackle from behind on Siphiwe Tshabalala, and then also on Tsepo Masilela on the follow-up, and Gomes pointed to the spot. Parker sent Oscarine Masuluke the wrong way and it was 2-1 at the break.

The second half was as exciting as the first without as many chances but it ended in dramatic fashion as substitute Mxolisi Kunene scored a contender for goal of the season in the 79th minute.

Kunene received the ball with his back to his marker just over the halfway line on the right side of the pitch, turned his man, beat another, then ran straight through the middle of three Chiefs defenders before producing a right-footed finish past a diving Itumeleng Khune.
