Ajax Cape Town picked up a rare away victory with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Bloemfontein Celtic in their Absa Premiership clash at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium on Saturday evening.
Goals from Ndiviwe Mdabuka, Prince Nxumalo and Thabo Mosadi sealed the win for Stanley Menzo's side, who have now won four of their last five games.
There were two good early chances at either end. First Lyle Lakay produced an excellent pass inside to Dumisani Zuma, but the winger fluffed his shot with just Jody February in the Ajax goal to beat.
Minutes later Ajax went close at the other end when Erwin Isaacs rampaged down the right wing and his cross found Nxumalo, but the striker's connection went just the wrong side of the post.
Rivaldo Coetzee, still searchin for his first career goal, had a big chance from am Ajax free-kick when he found himself with just Patrick Tignyemb in the home goal.
But it was the visitors who took the lead and it was a great team goal. Mayambela's clever back-heel played in Roscoe Pietersen. His shot was saved by Tignyemb, but Mdabuka was on hand to stab the ball into the net.
Ajax came close to a second as Mdabuka took aim from 30-yards, but his shot cannoned off the post with Tignyemb well beaten.
Tshegofatso Mabaso, making his first start in two-and-a-half seasons at Celtic, was taken off after 33 minutes and replaced by Vusi Shikweni as Celtic coach Lehlohonolo Seema looked to change things up for his over-run side.
Ajax received a reprieve in the 52nd minute when Celtic were awarded a penalty after Mayambela brought down Siyabonga Dube in the box. But Musa Nyatama stepped up and placed his penalty ahead the post.
Ajax got their second when some poor home defending allowed Mosadi time to pick a pass for Nxumalo, who easily beat Tigynemb from close range.
Celtic perhaps knew it would not be their day when Robert Sankara forced a powerful header from a corner towards goal, but the ball bounced off the post and away to safety.
The points were wrapped up three minutes from time when Ajax scored their third as Mosadi raced towards goal and easily beat Tignyemb with a clever finish.
