Polokwane City Chippa United PSL Absa Premiership match report

Posted: 14 December 2016 Time: 18:19

Polokwane City moved to within three points of Absa Premiership leaders Cape Town City with a 1-0 victory over Chippa United at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday.

The only goal of the game came eight minutes from time when skipper Jabu Maluleke netted a sublime free-kick from 30-yards to seal a win in a game of few chances.

The first half produced little in the way of chances with neother keeper forced into a significant save.

Thembinkosi Lorch had a fierce shot on goal that was blocked, while City's breaks tended to fizzle out in the final third.

The deadlock was eventually broken late on with a stunning free-kick from by Maluleke, a goal that finally appeared to spring Chippa into life, but they could not force an equaliser.

Next up for Polokwane is an away trip to Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday, while Chippa host Highlands Park on Saturday.
