Ajax Cape Town Golden Arrows PSL Absa Premiership report

Ajax Cape Town continued their revival as they defeated Golden Arrows 1-0 in an Absa Premiership clash at the Athlone Stadium on Saturday night.
Nathan Paulse scored the only goal of the game with five minutes to play after his initial penalty was saved, but was on hand to tap home the rebound.
Ajax showed none of the sparkle that saw them defeat Mamelodi Sundowns in midweek in what was a poor advert for the Premiership with errors the order of the day and chances few and far between.
But they did enough to claim the victory and with three wins in a row are steadily climbing the Premiership table after a disastrous start to the campaign.
The only opening of the first half fell to Ajax striker Prince Nxumalo, who turned his defender but could not beat Nkosi Gumede in the Golden Arrows goal.
That was the only real opportunity until the penalty incident five minutes from time, with Arrows defender Siyabonga Dube adjudged to have handled the ball in the box.
Referee Daniel Bennett awarded the penalty and Paulse, wearing his ‘Zoro mask’ after a fractured cheekbone, saw his initial effort saved but reacted quickest to the loose ball to tap home.
Next up for Ajax is a visit to fellow strugglers Highlands Park on December 14, while Golden Arrows host title-chasing Bidvest Wits on the same night.
