PSL Absa Premiership match report Platinum Stars Polokwane City

Posted: 3 December 2016 Time: 13:38

Polokwane City edged a desperate Platinum Stars 3-2 at Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg on Saturday.

Sipho Jembula rifled in the opener with a fine strike for the visitors in the 13th minute.

City were gifted a second courtesy of Solomon Mathe's own goal just before the interval.

Rodney Ramagalela made it 3-0 in the 58th minute when he dispossessed Siboniso Gumede before slotting the ball past goalkeeper Steven Hoffman.

Namibian attacker Benson Shilongo reduced the deficit with a quick-fire brace in the latter stages but Luc Eymael's men held on to collect the three points.

The result saw Rise and Shine rocket to fourth in the Absa Premiership standings with 18 points from 12 games - six points behind pace-setting Cape Town City.

A fourth straight loss for Stars leaves Cavin Johnson's side a point above the drop zone with nine points from 11 fixtures.
