PSL Absa Premiership match report Platinum Stars vs Ajax Cape Town

Posted: 22 November 2016 Time: 18:43

Ajax Cape Town recorded their first win of the season with a 3-2 victory over Platinum Stars in Rustenburg.

Bantu Mzwakali netted a 12th minute opener for the visitors, with fellow attacker Mark Mayambela providing the assist at Royal Bafokeng Stadium.

Towering hitman Prince Nxumalo then made it 2-0 four minutes later for Stanley Menzo's outfit.

Cavin Johnson's side suffered a further setback when goalkeeper Steven Hoffman, handed his first start in place of the suspended Mbongeni Mzimela, conceded an own goal just shy of the half-hour mark.

Stars responded in the second half via goals from Vuyo Mere and Benson Shilongo, but Menzo's men held on for three sorely-needed points.

The Urban Warriors, with six points from 10 games, moved off the bottom of the table at the expense of Free State Stars, while Dikwena are 11th with nine points from as many matches.
