African champions Mamelodi Sundowns beat Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 in the league on Saturday, with Sibusiso Vilakazi netting the winner at Loftus Versveld Stadium.
With the match starting 15 minutes later due to crowd safety concerns, Chiefs defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele scored the opener in the 38th minute with an attempted cross against his former club.
The lead, however, was short-lived as Tebogo Langerman equalised two minutes later with a thumping effort.
Vilakazi decided matters with a simple finish in the 53rd minute for the dominant hosts, who had a strong penalty shout from Percy Tau turned down, while Anthony Laffor and Keagan Dolly also threatened in the latter stages.
The Brazilians, who are playing catch-up in the Absa Premiership due to their CAF exploits, rose to 11th in the standings as they bolstered their tally to seven points from four games.
Amakhosi contrastingly saw a seven-match undefeated run in the league come to an end. Steve Komphela's side are fourth on the table with 15 points from nine fixtures - two points behind pace-setting Cape Town City.
