PSL Absa Premiership match report Polokwane City vs Mamelodi Sundowns

Posted: 2 November 2016 Time: 18:46

Mamelodi Sundowns recorded their first league win of the season with a 2-0 defeat of Polokwane City at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday night.

Man of the Match Percy Tau and substitute Khama Billiat netted after the break for Sundowns, who have four points from three Absa Premiership ties.

The domestic and African champions are playing catch-up following their exploits in the CAF Champions League.

City, who also lost 2-0 to Downs in the Telkom Knockout, have 10 points from eight matches.

There was minimal action in the first half, as Tau had a penalty shout turned down early on, while Thabiso Semenya's clearance rebounded dangerously wide of his own goal off City teammate Sibusiso Mbonani just before the break.

The Brazilians took the lead in the 55th minute when Tau emphatically swept home a pin-point cross from the right by Thapelo Morena.

Tau turned provider in the 81st minute as he teed up Billiat, who claimed his fourth goal of the campaign with a composed finish into the bottom-right corner.
