Absa Premiership match report Golden Arrows Platinum Stars

Posted: 2 November 2016 Time: 18:14

Platinum Stars goalkeeper Mbongeni Mzimela saved a penalty and slotted one as Dikwena edged nine-man Golden Arrows 1-0 at Princess Magogo Stadium on Wednesday night.

Mzimela denied Clifton Miheso from the spot before showing how it's done in the 70th minute against Arrows, who had new signing Kagisho Dikgacoi and Nkanyiso Mngwengwe sent off after the break.

The hosts also suffered a set-back midway through a goalless first stanza as Vuyani Ntanga was forced off with an injury, prompting the introduction of Zimbabwean attacker Kudakwashe Mahachi.

Abafana Bes'thende's first defeat of the season leaves them in fourth place on the table with 14 points from eight matches - two points behind log leaders Bidvest Wits, who have two games in hand.

Stars rose to ninth in the standings with nine points from seven matches.
