Polokwane City held high-flying Bidvest Wits to a 0-0 draw in their Absa Premiership clash on Tuesday night, despite playing the entire second half with 10 men.
The opening exchanges were cagey with neither side able to create any clear-cut chances. However, the match began to gain momentum as Cuthbert Malajila's header forced home keeper George Chigova into making a fine save.
Shortly after that, the visitors found the back of the net when Dillon Sheppard's free-kick was headed in by a diving Bongani Khumalo. However, the defender was ruled to be in an offside position.
On the stroke of half-time, the home side was reduced to 10 men as Thapelo Tshilo was shown a red card for being involved in a scuffle with Hellings Mhango off the ball.
In the 58th minute The Students should have grabbed the opener, after Siyabonga Nhlapo put in a fine cross from the right wing, but Malajila was denied by Man of the Match Chigova from close range.
That was as good as it got, with City able to see out the remainder of the game with relative comfort.
