Uganda climbed top of 2018 World Cup qualifying Group E with a 1-0 win over Egypt at Mandela National Stadium in Kampala on Thursday.
Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Denis Onyango maintained his clean sheet record so far in the tournament, meaning Emmanuel Okwi’s 51st-minute strike would prove decisive as the Cranes leapfrogged Egypt into top spot at the halfway stage of the group campaign.
The result means Uganda now sit one point clear at the top of the table with three rounds of Group E matches remaining, with only the top-placed team moving on to Russia 2018.
