SuperSport United Black Aces Nedbank Cup report

Posted: 22 April 2016 Time: 18:54

SuperSport United are through to the Nedbank Cup semi-finals after a come-from-behind 2-1 win against Mpumalanga Black Aces.

Judas Moseamedi got the opener for Aces after just five minutes, but second half goals from Jeremy Brockie and Bradley Grobler won the day for Matsatsantsa.

Having done things the hard way to reach the quarterfinals, SuperSport were eager not to concede an early goal, but after five minutes Aces were in front.

After Sibusiso Masina fired a warning shot which Ronwen Williams did brilliantly to parry for a corner, Moseamedi popped up from the resulting set-piece to nod home the opener.

Shu-Aib Walters was at his best to keep out Dove Wome and Grobler as SuperSport went in search of the equaliser before the break.

At the other end of the pitch, Aces almost doubled their lead in the 35th minute. Moseamedi never gave up on a long ball and just about managed to cut the ball back to Collins Mbesuma, who was denied by Williams from close range.

Mbesuma had another opportunity to add to his tally this season, three minutes into the second stanza, but the burly forward was unable to beat a determined Williams once again.

Brockie equalised for the home side in the 68th minute, losing his marker before heading Wome's cross past Walters at the back post.

We looked to be heading for extra-time, but the hosts got the winner in the final minute of regulation time. Michael Boxall won the ball and fed Thuso Phala, whose fierce shot took a wicked deflection off Grobler and bounced into the back of the net.

Replays suggest Grobler was offside, but SuperSport were left to celebrate another come-from-behind win in the Nedbank Cup this season.
