University of Pretoria Polokwane City Rovers Nedbank Cup last 32 report

University of Pretoria cruised to a 5-0 victory over Polokwane City Rovers in their Nedbank Cup last 32 clash at Tuks Stadium on Saturday night.

Getaneh Kebede gave Tuks the perfect start in the 11th minute with a great finish from the edge of the area, placing the ball with power past static Rovers goalkeeper Sabelo Nkomo.

Atusaye Nyondo made it two in the 32nd minute, receiving a pass from Kebede on the penalty spot, waiting for the keeper to go down and then cheekily lobbing it over him.

Tuks were well on top at this stage and got a third goal give minutes later, albeit in rather fortuitous fashion. Sibusiso Mthethwa hit a left-footed volley from the edge of the area that hit the crossbar, rebounded onto the keeper and then hit the post before trickling over the line.

Shaun Bartlett's side continued their dominance over the ABC Motsepe League side at the start of the second half and made it 4-0 when Vuyisile Ntombayithethi scored with a beautiful longe-range drive after he was teed up by Lennox Bacela.

New signing Thabo Nemukondeni put the cherry on top in the 90th minute when he showed good instincts in the box to turn and shoot quickly, although he got a huge helping hand from goalkeeper Nkomo, who could only push the ball weakly onto the post and in.
