Posted: 11 May 2016 Time: 18:51

SuperSport United were held to a goalless draw by Mpumalanga Black Aces in an Absa Premiership tie at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday night.

The result saw United slip out of the top eight with a game to go, while Aces have secured their ticket to next season's MTN8 as they reside in fifth spot on the table.

Aces goalkeeper Shu-Aib Walters denied SuperSport striker Jeremy Brockie a goal just two minutes into the game as the home side searched for an early goal.

In the 19th minute, Thabo Nodada unleashed a shot from range and SuperSport shot-stopper Ronwen Williams parried the ball away to deny the Aces midfielder.

Aubrey Ngoma played a curling cross into the SuperSport box 12 minutes later and the Aces midfielder’s effort was cleared away.

Sibusiso Masina forced SuperSport keeper Williams into a good save five minutes after the restart as the Aces striker looked for the opener.

Dove Wome set up his SuperSport teammate Bradley Grobler in the 67th minute and the latter was denied by Aces keeper Walters.

SuperSport made a late change 10 minutes later, when Zama Rambuwane came on for Wome as the home side looked for a late winner.

Nevertheless, Aces managed to contain SuperSport in the remaining minutes.
