Bidvest Wits Chippa United PSL report

Posted: 30 April 2016 Time: 17:21

Bidvest Wits' title chase took another dent after a 1-1 Absa Premiership draw against Chippa United at Bidvest Stadium on Saturday evening.

Thamsanqa Sangweni gave Chippa the lead in the 16th minute with an emphatic finish at Moeneeb Josephs' near post from close range on the right side of the penalty area following a good one-two with Xola Mlambo.

There was a very worrying moment for Papy Faty in the 20th minute when he collapsed under no pressure on the touchline. Faty appeared to be having a stroke of sorts, was aided by medics amidst frantic reactions from both benches, but astoundingly came back onto the pitch after two minutes of treatment.

Faty was recently sidelined for months after collapsing in a similar fashion during a practice match back in December and was hospitalised after that first incident.

"I just felt a little dizzy," he told SuperSport after being substituted.

Gavin Hunt eventually hauled the Burundian midfielder off in the 34th minute as Ben Motshwari relieved him of duty.

The Chilli Boys continued to look the more impressive side until the break and were in the ascendancy as the teams headed to the changerooms.

However, in the second half the Clever Boys upped their game and found an equaliser following good work from Daine Klate to force a save out of Daniel Akpeyi, which led to a corner-kick in the 59th minute.

From that corner Elias Pelembe picked out Sibusiso Vilakazi's near-post run and after losing his marker, the forward steered a looping header into the far corner.

The game was tightly contested in the closing stages as both sides fought tooth and nail for every ball, but neither could find a winning goal.

The result is not good for Wits, who have stumbled again in their chase of Mamelodi Sundowns, while a point is okay for top-eight-chasing Chippa.
