Absa Premiership Mpumalanga Black Aces vs Kaizer Chiefs

Posted: 12 April 2016 Time: 18:40

Mpumalanga Black Aces fought back twice to earn a point at home following a 2-2 draw with Kaizer Chiefs on Tuesday evening.

Goals from Siphiwe Tshabalala and Willard Katsande were cancelled out as Aces came from behind twice through strikes from Bongolwethu Jayiya and Eddie Ngalo.

The hosts started brightly when Sibusiso Masina showed good pace and skill with a run towards goal in the sixth minute, but took one touch too many as Masilela stepped in to clear Chiefs' defensive lines.

Baloyi then tried an audacious lob after spotting Mabokgwane way off his line, but the midfielder's shot was too strong as it sailed over the crossbar in the 12th minute.

On the other end Masina had a great chance to open the scoring, but the striker was unable to angle his header on target in the 19th minute.

Two minutes later, Mabokgwane made a horrible mistake as Tshabalala's intended cross for Parker left the keeper in no mans land and the ball rolled into an empty Aces net, 1-0.

Five minutes later, Aubrey Ngoma burst into the Chiefs area and tried to find Collins Mbesuma, who lost the ball to Jayiya but the latter's shot was well saved off the line by Katsande.

The visitors were unlucky not to double their lead in the 36th minute when Bernard Parker struck the crossbar from close range, following a good pass from George Lebese.

Chiefs were again foiled in the dying minutes of the first half when Mabokgwane was called to save a dipping left-footed shot from Lebese.

Aces made a change at half-time, inroducing Judas Moseamedi for Masina, and it paid off soon afterward as the substitute almost capitalised on an error from Reyaad Pieterse, who took his eye off a back-pass but recovered well.

A minute later, Jayiya equalised with a world class first-time volley with the instep of his right foot, after Amakhosi failed to clear their lines from a corner.

Lucky Baloyi then had a chance to restore the lead right on the hour mark, but his shot from close range was mishit and straight at Mabokgwane.

Two minutes later, Katsande unleashed a powerful strike from range, which lef Mabokgwane rooted to his spot as the ball rattled the back of the net, 2-1.

Chiefs went in search of a third but were left to regret not closing shop as Eddie Ngalo grabbed a late equaliser for the home side in stoppage time, after a good run and cross from Moseamedi.
