Chippa United twice came from behind to draw 2-2 with struggling Maritzburg United in the Absa Premiership on Sunday afternoon.

Maritzburg, fresh off a 2-0 win over Golden Arrows, struck early on via Philani Zulu seven minutes in.

However, the lead was short-lived as Andile Mbenyane equalised four minutes later at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

Joseph Molangoane then fired the Chilli Boys ahead six minutes before the interval, but Evans Rusike drew level on the stroke of half-time.

With no further goals coming in the second stanza, the result nudged Chippa above Orlando Pirates into sixth place on the table with 33 points from 23 matches.

The Team of Choice remain at the bottom of the standings with 16 points from 22 games - a point behind University of Pretoria, who have played an extra match.

Jomo Cosmos are hovering just above the relegation zone with 20 points from 23 fixtures.
