Absa Premiership Orlando Pirates vs Jomo Cosmos

Posted: 12 March 2016 Time: 19:21

Orlando Pirates got their revenge over Jomo Cosmos with an emphatic 5-0 Absa Premiership win at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday night.

Goals from Ayanda Gcaba, Sifiso Myeni, Mpho Makola, Tendai Ndoro and Gift Motupa meant Bucs ran rampant at home to hand a 10-man Cosmos their 12th defeat of the campaign.

Gcaba got the action off to a good start in as early as the 11th minute, when he  banged home with aplomb from an acute angle.

Two minutes later, Cosmos were reduced to 10 men when Cheslyn Jampies was handed a straight red card for a studs-up challenge on Pirates' Luvuyo Memela.

Sifiso Myeni then made use of the one-man advantage when he latched onto a well-placed free-kick from Memela, and doubled the lead for the hosts on the half-hour mark.

Nine minutes later, Makola further extended Bucs' lead when he turned beatifully and unleashed a curling right-footed effort into the bottom right corner from the edge of the area, leaving Sherwyn Naicker with no chance.

Ndoro then joined in on the fun when tapped home from close range, after a great individual run from Edwin Gyimah, who delievered an inch perfect cross.

The second half saw Pirates squander numerous clear-cut chances as the scoreline remained unchanged until the 90th minute.

Substitute Motupa finally grabbed his second goal of the season when he beat Naicker in a one-on-one, after Ndoro did well to lay it off for the under-23 international.
