PSL Absa Premiership: University of Pretoria vs Platinum Stars

Posted: 1 November 2015 Time: 14:43

Platinum Stars reclaimed the Absa Premiership summit after beating struggling University of Pretoria 2-0 at Tuks Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Bongi Ntuli and Man of the Match Letladi Madubanya struck after the break as Dikwena moved a point ahead of Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits on the table.

AmaTuks remain second-from-bottom in the standings with five points from eight games - a point behind Polokwane City and four ahead of Maritzburg United.

The first half was short of action, with Tuks' Thabo Mosadi drilling an effort over on the angle, while at the other end Eleazar Rodgers narrowly failed to reach a dangerous delivery by fan-favourite Masibusane Zongo.

Stars, however, stole ahead in the 53rd minute when Ntuli calmly tucked the ball home after being released by strike partner Ndumiso Mabena.

The visitors continued to press, as Rodgers hit the crossbar from inside the box before Madubanya added a second goal in the 74th minute from close range following good work by Zongo.

Cavin Johnson's charges comfortably played out the latter stages to ensure the three points and condemn the home team to their fifth defeat of the season.
