Mamelodi Sundowns vs Maritzburg United PSL Absa Premiership report

Posted: 31 October 2015 Time: 20:09

Mamelodi Sundowns moved to the top of the Absa Premiership table after a comfortable 3-0 victory over Maritzburg United at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday night.

Sundowns dominated the game from start to finish and put away their chances as the struggling Team of Choice again failed to trouble their opposition.

The Brazilians started the game brightly and were ahead after just nine minutes played when a short-passing move ended with Themba Zwane picking up Teko Modise's through-ball and finishing into the bottom-left corner, in off the post.

Tebogo Langerman made it 2-0 in the 66th minute, making a run from the left flank and expertly controlling another perfect pass from Modise before taking one touch to beat Ryan de Jongh and burying a shot into the bottom-right corner.

Veteran Surprise Moriri celebrated his return from injury by finishing the game off in fine style. Ramahlwe Mphahlele bombed down the right and swung in a cross to the far post, Moriri controlled, composed himself and finished calmly into the roof of the net to make it 3-0.

The result moves Pitso Mosimane's side top of the Absa Premiership table, although they will only remain there if unbeaten Platinum Stars don't win against University of Pretoria on Sunday afternoon.
