Posted: 26 September 2015 Time: 14:12

Bidvest Wits slipped off the Absa Premiership summit after drawing 0-0 with Free State Stars at Goble Park on Saturday.

Wits entered the tie a point ahead of Platinum Stars in the standings.

Howeve, they were unable to breach Ea Lla Koto's rearguard, while Dikwena beat struggling SuperSport United 3-1 in a corresponding fixture.

Ea Lla Koto were the better side on the day as they triggered a man-of-the-match performance from Clever Boys goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs .

The game got off to a lively start with both sides looking for the early advantage, but Wits had a slight upper hand in terms of ball possession.

However, Stars were the first to take a serious shot at goal when midfielder Danny Venter unleashed a long-range effort which went wide of the target.

The encounter began to open up after the 15-minute mark, but the two sides were struggling to create clear-cut opportunities.

Josephs was called into action in the 26th minute when Katlego Mashego forced the former Ajax Cape Town into a fine save.

With five minutes left on the clock before the half-time break, Wits midfielder Papy Faty's attempt was blocked inside the Stars box.

Ea Lla Koto created more chances after the interval. Josephs was forced to make a great save six minutes into the second-half, pushing away Mrisho Ngasa's free-kick.

Ten minutes later, Stars substitute Moeketsi Sekola's snap shot from the left missed the upright, with Josephs well-beaten.

Wits substitute Kris Bright tried his luck from range in the 82nd minute, but Stars goalkeeper Dauoda Diakite was well-positioned to make a save.

Ultimately, the match ended 0-0 with the two sides sharing the spoils on the day.
