2015/16 Absa Premiership: Golden Arrows vs University of Pretoria

Posted: 9 August 2015 Time: 14:09

Rodney Ramagalela scored on debut as ten-man Golden Arrows beat University of Pretoria 1-0 on their return to the Absa Premiership on Sunday afternoon.

In a scrappy match, Ramagalela struck from close range six minutes before the break at Chatsworth Stadium.

The NFD champions suffered a set-back in the 22nd minute, as goalkeeper Maximilian Mbaeva was shown a straight red card after handling a shot by Lennox Bacela outside the area.

Mbaeva's exit prompted a debut for former Orlando Pirates keeper Philani Zikalala, who went on to record a clean sheet after replacing Sibusiso Sibeko in Durban.

Abafana Bes'thende continued to attack despite Mbaeva's dismissal, with Lucky Mathosi and ex-Free State Stars man Tumelo Letuka having shots on goal, while at the other end Vukile Mngqibisa failed to hit the target late on.
