Platinum Stars and Mamelodi Sundowns played to a goalless draw in their first Absa Premiership match of the season at Royal Bafokeng Stadium.
The Brazilians nearly opened the scoring in the fourth minute when Ramahlwe Mphahlele's header flashed inches wide of the far post from Teko Modise's inswinging free-kick from the right.
Dikwena's best chance came five minutes from the break when the exciting Masibusane Zongo played a great through-ball to Bongi Ntuli, whose shot from a tight angle went wide of the far upright.
In a half with not much goalmouth action it was Sundowns who had the better opportunities, most of them towards the last few minutes of the half, but there was a mixture of wasteful finishing and poor executions.
Khama Billiat, Mzikayise Mashaba and new Burundian striker Fiston Abdul Razak all had a few frustrating moments in the goal area.
In the second half there were only a few real chances at both ends as both teams slugged it out until the end, with Sundowns enjoying more possession and looking more dangerous.
However, Platinum Stars arguably had the best two chances. The first was when Ndumiso Mabena dispossessed last man Asavela Mbekila, who was dawdling at the back, but his new captain Mphalele was alert to the situation and got back in the nick of time to tackle the striker.
The second Dikwena chance came when Zongo cut inside from the right onto his left foot and took a shot from range, Eleazar Rodgers ran onto it in the penalty area and diverted the shot goalward, but Kennedy Mweede produced a smart save to keep it out.
Sundowns played more directly in the closing stages as they went in search of a winner as Teko Modise pulled the strings from midfield, but too often those balls over the top were overhit and Mbongeni Mzimela came out to claim.
However, neither side could find the net as they both settled for a point from their first League game.
