Ajax Cape Town asserted their PSL pedigree with a 9-1 humiliation of minnows Mainstay United in the Nedbank Cup on Sunday.
Ajax strolled into the last-16 of the competition thanks to braces from Toriq Losper, Franklin Cale and substitutes Noah Sadaoui and Robin Ngalande, with utility player Abbubaker Mobara also getting on the scoresheet at GWK Stadium.
The Urban Warriors - who have struggled for goals all season - were 4-0 up at the break, with experienced winger Cale and Losper netting twice apiece, before the latter was forced off with a knock in the 35th minute.
Losper's replacement Ngalande also got in on the act, making it 5-0 in the 68th minute.
Mobara added another with a fine strike in the 73rd minute, with Morocco-born attacker Sadaoui scoring another two of his own in the 76th and 82nd minutes.
Malawian Ngalande sealed the rout in the 88th minute.
Mainstay defender R. Ross scored both an own-goal in the 70th minute as well as a goal at the right end 10 minutes before time.
