Mamelodi Sundowns secured a 1-1 draw with 10-man St Michel United in the first leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary tie in Seychelles.
The match was played on the artificial turf of Stade Linité and the Brazilians attacked from the onset as Cuthbert Malajila and Katlego Mashego were partnered up front.
Sundowns bossed most of the possession as St Michel adopted a tactical approach but they could not find a way past the home side's stout defence.
Mashego had the best chance of the first half when Tebogo Langerman's cross found the striker, whose shot went narrowly over the crossbar.
St Michel then went down to 10 men just 10 minutes into the second half when Leeroy Coralie was sent off for a second bookable offence.
Yet despite that setback, it was the home side that scored first after 65 minutes through Gervais Waye-Hive.
But Pitso Mosimane's side were not to be denied as Zimbabwean winger Khama Billiat restored some pride and bagged an important away goal on 83 minutes.
The Brazilians host the return leg at Lucas Moripe Stadium on February 28.
